Oriana Scalzulli

Counselling & Psychotherapy

Welcome

You might be here because you are experiencing emotional difficulties, struggling with stress or relationships.

You might be feeling like your life doesn’t correspond to you anymore and you’re not sure where to start to make changes.

Or you might be trying to find your own voice, or to navigate major life transitions.

Whatever the reason bringing you here, I imagine you are wondering whether therapy could help you.

To find an answer to this question, I invite you to read further and, if you wish, to book a first consultation – I will be happy to discuss how I can help you.

About me

My name is Oriana (she/her/hers) and I offer counselling & psychotherapy sessions in Brixton, South London, and online. I am a fully qualified Gestalt Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. Additionally, I am currently working towards a MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy at Metanoia Institute, London.

I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy), and of the UKAGP (UK Association for Gestalt Practitioners).

I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, to the UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice and to Metanoia Institute’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.

My experience includes offering counselling and psychotherapy within an NHS setting and working both on short-term and open-ended basis. I have supported my clients with a wide range of issues, such as depression, loneliness, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, abuse, relationship issues, stress, and bereavement .

My approach

I begin by offering you a space where you can feel heard. An entirely safe and confidential space, available for you to explore your experiences. In my work, I adopt a Gestalt approach. This is grounded in a holistic view of the human being as a whole of mind, body and environment. Therefore, I offer an embodied and culturally sensitive approach to therapy.

You will have the opportunity to creatively explore the themes you wish to bring into therapy, with a focus on deepening your awareness. In fact, I believe that awareness of our current way of being in the world is key to living more fully and to making the changes we wish to make. I have a particular interest in existential themes and in working collaboratively with you to support you identifying your resources and developing new ones.

My background

I have a background in Social Anthropology and have always been interested in how social and cultural factors play a role in an individual’s life. In particular, I have examined processes of personal and collective creation of meaning. This now emerges in my therapeutic work – I can offer you a space to identify or re-examine your own sources of meaning and value. I have a personal lived experience of intercultural dynamics, with their potential for both disruption and growth. As a long-term mindfulness meditation practitioner, I naturally integrate a non-judgemental and open observation of what is happening in the here-and-now into my therapeutic practice.
